17 September 2016 20:00 (Event completed)
Pandit Ajit Singh is coming to Latvia, to share an amazing performance of classical Indian ragas on the sitar.

Pandit Ajit Singh was born in Varanasi (Benares), in a musician's family. Classical Indian music playing is a family tradition, and was passed from generation to generation. Ajit Singh began studying music as a child under the guidance of such famous masters as his grandfather Mahadev Singh Thakur (Sitaram Baba), his father Ranjit Singh (sarod master) and his uncle Dr. Singh Raybhan (Sitar and Surbahara Master). Ajit Singh also drew inspiration from masters such as Pandit Ravi Shankar (the closest friend of the family), Ustad Vilayat Khan and Pandit Bhimsen Joshi.

Classical music lovers highly appreciate Ajit Singh. The musician performed a lot in India, but from 2000 Ajit is a frequent guest of several festivals in France, such as «Domaine Des Courmettes», «Musiques B.A.R.J.E.S.», and «Festival Historique de la Joye». Live performances and studio recordings of his music are available on CD's.
Pandit Ajit Singh plays ragi in Drupadi style, in the tradition of Gvilor Gharana and Benares Gharana (ancient traditional school of Indian classical music).

Through his ragas the musician passes a certain state of mind, emotion. On his concerts you can experience spiritual unity between a listener and an artist.
As critics say, during Ajit Pandit's concerts "his music soars to the heavens on the zephyr strings of his sitar".

Pandit Ajit Singh was included in the top 10 of the best "classical" musicians according to mp3.com website, and according to this site he is among the best musicians in the world.
